It is no secret that you will attract a lower rate if you pick a much higher deductible amount. After all, picking a higher deductible amount means you've decided to bear more of the risk associated with giving you coverage. And since your rates are based on how risky it is to give you coverage, you get to pay cheaper rates once you pick a high deductible amount.
That should be all about it, isn't it? No, I don't think so. This is because you have to make adequate provision for this deductible amount if you don't want this to leave a sour taste in your mouth. It's totally pointless to pick an amount that you can't provide on short notice. Therefore, make sure you have a solid plan in place before you go this route.
