Need some advice and help with claiming

I am looking to put in a claim very soon for carers allowance. I am in receipt of disability living allowance already and some housing and council tax benefit. I will be caring for my wife who is very ill, the problem is i was working a small part time job to top up our income but i will have to stop this now to care for her. I am trying to find out about benefits for older carers to see if there is anything other than carers allowance that i can receive in my circumstances. We will be needing a bit more money due to me leaving my job to care for her. I am going to try and get my wife's disability living allowance claim upped to the next level because she has become worse and now can barely move, let alone leave the house. I very happy as a whle with the benefits service they always seem to work well and i have never really had a problem, i know a lot of people do though but i am not sure why, maybe i am just a very patient man.
