Shoes are a need for everyday use for practically anything. Whether it be a specialized job like fire fighting or just being in the beach using flip flops, shoes are part of our lives. I particularly do not own that many shoes. Therefore, the ones that I do own, are taken care of. I want my shoes to last me for a long time. At one point, years ago, a sneaker company with a swoosh on the side came out with one called Blade. It was the most comfortable sneaker I have ever owned. Since then, I have not been able to buy another one. I tried all popular places but, these sneakers are not considered classics. In addition, I tried buying them online to find out that they are only sold at a smaller foot size. Compared to all other sneakers I have owned, this one tops the list because of its comfort. I felt this sneaker was created with my foot in mind. |

My favorite fashion item, without a doubt, would be the shoe. I don’t have a particular preference as far as one type of shoe versus another I just love shoes in general.
My dad needs to by shoes for swollen feet, and I was amazed there was a brand - Hotter shoes - that catered to such a niche! That's the kind of variety we have these days.
As for me, I love sneakers and flats and sandals and boots and pumps and loafers. I have a closet full of shoes, all waiting for the opportunity to come out and play. In my opinion, the shoe can absolutely make or break an outfit. You can be wearing a super cute skirt and blouse but if you don’t match it with the right set of shoes, you might as well not leave the house. And with the right shoe, if it makes a big enough statement can take an otherwise dull, unexciting outfit and make it worthy of a second look. Shoes can dress up a casual look or tone down a bold look. Shoes can take you from work to the club and from church to the countryside. Shoes are by far the most important fashion item in my wardrobe as they should be. |

My niece decided to get married when she was 19 to her "male best friend" (as she liked to call him). They wanted a wedding at the lake with the beautiful outside surroundings. The evening before her wedding we went to the lake to set up the alter, chairs, speakers and everything else. We'd bought her one of those eye-catching wedding tiaras for her special day too, and we were all looking forward to see her wearing it. The weather forecast mentioned some winds but nothing like what was to follow. That evening a storm came through developing tornados. Everthing was gone. It was awful. My neices bridesmaid had extensive damage done to her house's roof. We all thought the day was ruined, except my neice and her fiance. They wanted a natural wedding. So we salvaged a couple chairs for the older guests and made preparations. The wedding went on and I would have to say it ws the most beautiful wedding I have ever attended. |

I have this fashion buckle belt I like to wear as often as possible. It makes my plain t-shirts and jeans somehow look more "connected" and fashionable. People comment and say "what brand is that t-shirt?" (or jeans) and I just laugh because I know it's down to the belt (and strangely they never comment on the belt). When I'm not wearing the belt, I don't get any favourable comments - proof positive!
So it goes to show that fashion accessories to give a subtle, but powerful, influence to the clothes you are wearing. Think about belts, glasses, rings, earings, pashminas etc - they really do make a difference.
I'm thinking of buying a collection of belts - all colour-coded to my clothes collection - it sure beats having to buy all the designer clothing out there to try and look fashionable - a simple little belt will do it for me! |

Having worked in the fashion industry for 12 years - and 6 of those years in the lingerie industry - one develops a refined taste of the kind of fashion items they like. For me, I love Vertigineux lingerie - it's so luxurious and the attention to detail is quite staggering. Our models have also said similar, so it's not just me with this opinion!
And having said that, on most days I like to forget about fashion. Yes I'm a fashion fanatic, but I do like to switch off from it - it means that I get back to work with a fresh mind, and I'm not too swayed by my own subjective tastes, which can be dangerous when working in the fashion industry as we all have our different tastes. We must look at things more objectively and realise that all kinds of fashions appeal to various people. |
